The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. in the kitchen of the Paterson Plank Road restaurant, reports show.
Smoke billowed from the rear of the building as firefighters from Lyndhurst, Kearny and Secaucus battled the flames.
The blaze was under control approximately an hour later. The area was closed for several hours for investigation and no injuries were reported.
